Teaching Scholarships in Florida

Students pursuing an education major at Florida colleges and universities are qualified to apply for a scholarship grant from various scholarships programs with the Federal Government, the Department of Education of Florida and via each individual university faculty (see recent awards). These are programs intended for the future educators of Florida. They provide primarily financial assistance, training and development.

For example Education students enrolled at the University of South Florida may apply for multiple endowed scholarship awards. The Laura Ellen Weeks Scholarship is available to juniors who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and strong leadership skills. Female undergraduate and graduate students may apply for the Velma Pate Thomas Scholarship. Financial need is a primary consideration for this award. Individual award amounts vary based on funding and individual need. Any student who has completed at least 12 semester hours may apply for the Searls/Pfost Scholarship, which provides full tuition funding for up to two semesters of study

To receive a teaching scholarship in Florida one must remember that each scholarship has very specific requirements that must be met as determined by the scholarship provider. Students should save time and effort by closely evaluating their profile (grades, experience, activities, etc) and determining what scholarships they would be best suited for.
