Nursing Scholarships in Florida
Becoming a nurse in Florida is a great way to guarantee a bright, comfortable future. Nursing is a high-demand field, and with an aging population in Florida, it doesn't look as though we'll be needing fewer nurses in the future. In fact, there's some speculation that we may encounter a severe nursing shortage as more and more Baby Boomers are becoming elderly, and needing more medical care. Even without an exponentially growing group of elderly Americans, we're still always going to get sick and need healthcare.
A good nurse can find work anywhere in Florida or anywhere in the world, and the intrinsic rewards of devoting your career to helping the sick cannot be underestimated. There are many paths to becoming a nurse, and many paths to take once you're in the field. You may decide to take a faster track, and become a certified nursing assistant (CNA) or a licensed practical nurse (LPN), both of whom can become trained in less than two years. You might decide to become a registered nurse (RN) or get your bachelor of science in nursing (BSN). You might even want to earn a higher degree, which can take you into nursing management or becoming a nurse practitioner, who has nearly the same privileges as an M.D. While some outdated stereotypes about nursing as women's work still exist, more men than ever are entering the field at all different levels.
Once you've been accepted to a Florida nursing school or program, you'll have the opportunity to choose a specialty if you'd like. You might consider pediatrics, if you enjoy working with children; geriatrics, if you like working with the elderly; or hospice nursing, if you're drawn to helping others at the end of life. Nursing is a rich and diverse field, there is plenty of opportunity, no matter where your interests lie.
The costs of nursing school in Florida can depend on what type of degree you're pursuing, as well as specialty. There may even be differences in costs between two schools in the same state. Obviously, the more advanced and lengthy the degree program is, the more expensive it will be.
