Scholarships with less money
When applying for scholarships most people will only look for those with the largest payouts and ignore the rest. Who wouldn’t want a full “free ride”. The truth is those are far and few between.
This thought process is a big mistake because the odds of getting that large scholarship are very low due to the fact a large amount of others students are thinking the same thing as you. This isn’t to say you shouldn’t apply to those big pay out scholarships but you shouldn’t ignore the smaller ones.
There are usually more scholarships than applicants realize. Sometimes scholarships go totally unclaimed because no one with right criteria applied. Instead of narrowing yourself down to one scholarship apply to many with rewards of all sizes. $500, $1,000, $5,000, $10,000. A few of those and they quickly add up. $1,000 can help out with books or that new laptop for your next semester.
