The Daniels Opportunity Scholarship at SLCC supports college graduation of non-traditional students with demonstrated financial need and who have overcome adversity in pursuing their educational goals. The scholarship is designed to assist continuing students (in both Financial Aid eligible credit hour and clock hour programs) through to graduation at SLCC. The Daniels Opportunity Scholarship is funded by the Daniels Fund, created through the generous legacy of entrepreneur and philanthropist, Bill Daniels

Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for consideration, student must: 1. Be a continuing student (with 9 - 30 cumulative SLCC or transfer credit hours or have completed 15% of a clock hour program by the end of Spring in a Financial Aid eligible credit or clock hour program (degree or certificate of completion) 2. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above or maintaining satisfactory progress in a clock hour program. Students must meet satisfactory academic progress requirements as defined by Financial Aid. 3. Be a Utah Resident (for SLCC tuition purposes) and a US Citizen or permanent resident. 4. Be a non-traditional student, for example: Adult learner, single parent, displaced homemaker, displaced worker, returning military, GED recipient, or prior involvement in foster care, juvenile justice or alternative high school. 5. Have submitted FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and demonstrate financial need. (The Committee will determine financial need by reviewing the student’s financial aid file at SLCC). 6. Submit Daniels Opportunity Scholarship application form, personal statement and 2 letters of recommendation. Incomplete applications will not be considered. 7. Plan to enroll during the period of the scholarship for at least half-time (6+ credit hours) or SAT at least 10 clock hours per week 8. Submit a Course (or Educational) Plan Form listing the courses and semesters you need to complete your degree to graduation. This must be completed with an Academic or SAT Advisor. Please plan ahead to meet with an Advisor to complete the Course Plan Form.
