Arthur Mason Ward, Sr. and Izora Vereachia Ward met at Tennessee State University where they both received their Bachelor's degrees. They moved to Battle Creek in 1955 where they became committed servants to their church, Mr. Zion African Episcopal Methodist Church, and to God. They served faithfully until their passing in 2000 and 1993, respectively. Their mission was to effectively serve in various civic and religious organizations to foster a higher quality of life for their community. This scholarship was established in remembrance of them. |

Eligible applicants shall be African American graduates or graduating high school seniors from public or private schools in the greater Battle Creek area and have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Considerations are: exhibit strong character and leadership skills and active in service to their church, community and school. Preference shall be given to students who are members of Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church. |
