The following are financial aid programs available to students who are residents of the state of Connecticut. 

Student Financial Aid in Connecticut

Most Connecticut student financial aid is administered by the financial aid office at Connecticut's institutions of higher education. Connecticut residents who wish to apply for financial aid should contact individual college financial aid offices. Below is a summary of state and federal student aid programs available to Connecticut residents. Capitol Scholarship

Who is Eligible:
Connecticut resident, U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien who is a high school senior or graduate with rank in top 20% of class or SAT scores of at least 1,800.

Amount:
Up to $3,000 a year to be used at a Connecticut college or at colleges located in states which have reciprocity agreements with Connecticut.

Basis of Selection:
Financial need

File applications through high school guidance office by Feb. 15

Connecticut Aid for Public College Students

Who is Eligible:
Connecticut resident attending a Connecticut public college or university

Amount:
Up to amount of unmet financial need

Basis of Selection:
Financial need

How & When to Apply:
Apply at college financial aid office

Connecticut Independent College Student Grant Program

Who is Eligible:
Connecticut resident attending a Connecticut independent college or university

Amount:
Up to $8,500 a year

Basis of Selection:
Financial need

How & When to Apply:
Apply at college financial aid office

Connecticut Minority Teacher Incentive Program

Who is Eligible:
Minority juniors or seniors enrolled in Connecticut college or university teacher preparation programs

Amount:
Grants up to $5,000 a year for 2 years; loan reimbursement  of $2,500 a year for up to 4 years of teaching in a Connecticut public school

Basis of Selection:
Nomination

How and When to Apply:
Nomination by October 1. Contact education deans at Connecticut colleges and universities which offer teacher preparation programs for more information.

Robert C. Byrd Scholarship

Who is Eligible:
High school seniors who rank in top 2% of class or SAT scores of at least 2,100

Amount:
$1,500 per academic year

Basis of Selection:
SAT scores & class rank

How & When to Apply:
File applications through high school guidance office by April 1

Tuition Set Aside Aid

Who is Eligible:
Student attending Connecticut public college

Amount:
Up to amount of unmet financial need

Basis of Selection:
Financial need

How & When to Apply:
Apply at college financial aid office
