| High school seniors in Arizona who have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 and who have been involved in charitable activities or volunteer service (in school, church, or community) are eligible to submit an essay (300 words or less) on a topic that changes annually (recently: ”Who would you consider to be the most important person of the 20th century and why?”). Applications must be accompanied by two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a high school teacher or administrator. Selection is based on the content and overall presentation of the essay, letters of recommendation, community involvement, and academic record. | |
