Description:
The Willis H. Overby Scholarship was established in 1984 in honor of Willis Overby upon his retirement as Assistant Superintendent of the Stokes County School System and later endowed at The Winston-Salem Foundation in 2010. The scholarship may provide two $600 non-renewable awards to graduating high school seniors from Stokes County who will go directly to an accredited vocational/technical school, community college, or college/university in pursuit of a certificate, diploma or degree. Scholarships will be applied to cost of undergraduate tuition, fees and on-campus room and board
Additional Information
To receive consideration, applicants must: • be residents of Stokes County • be graduating high school seniors attending a Stokes County High School • have a minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.0 and a transcript reflecting a challenging course selection • demonstrate initiative and a desire to succeed as exemplified by outstanding leadership, school service, and community involvement • demonstrate financial need, but not restricted to lower incomes
