These endowed scholarships were established by the late Gladys Winkle to support serious full-time Music and Art students. Mrs. Winkle was a resident of Pittsburg and Mt. Vernon and a dedicated music teacher and accomplished amateur artist. She was the daughter of Judge R.T. and Lela Nelson Wilkinson, whose parents were pioneer citizens of the Snow Hill/Chapel Hill/East New Hope Communities. The scholarships provide for
tuition, fees, and books to two Music majors and two Art majors.
